Text reads “Dear sir, I do not know if you are still running ‘sleepers’ on the midnight train ex-Paddington to Penzance. If you are, I should like a good one for tomorrow (Thursday). But if they are off, I daresay a pillow is procurable. Yours truly, Arthur Quiller-Couch. I am travelling to Par.”
Arthur Quiller-Couch (English, 1863–1944) was a poet, novelist and anthologist who published under the pseudonym Q. He was knighted in 1910, and in 1912 was appointed King Edward VII professor of English literature at Cambridge and also elected a fellow of Jesus College. Ref: Britannica.
