Text verso includes “Dedicated to the service of Australia, the great Crusader mill…no one dreamed that by 1946 the mill would have grown to be the largest producer of worsted cloth in the southern hemisphere.”

“No. 16. Roll of cloth showing Crusader trade mark.” Text verso includes “Crusader worsteds. After pressing and steaming, the cloth is now inspected by experts to ensure that it is ready to deliver to your tailor…Always looks for the trade mark when selecting a Crusader cloth.”

Australian Woollen Mills, founded by Thomas Longworth, “contained the most efficient machinery available internationally…During World War I the mill produced enormous quantities of khaki for the Australian Imperial Force as well as adequate supplies of khaki knitting wools for regimental comforts’ funds.
